What you need to know

So many great benefits at your fingertips. Where do you start?

Where to go

  • Most benefits: You’ll go to Workday to enroll in medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Account, commuter benefits, life and AD&D insurance, disability benefits, and voluntary supplemental insurance (hospital indemnity and critical illness).
  • 401(k) plan: If you don’t take action within your first 35 days or so, you’ll be enrolled automatically in the 401(k) plan at a 6% contribution rate. You can change your contributions and investments through Fidelity at any time.
  • Pet insurance: You can apply for discounted insurance anytime by visiting Pets Best.

When coverage begins

Medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, life insurance and disability benefits take effect on your first day of eligibility (like your hire date!). Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts and commuter benefits take effect the first of the month following the date you submit your elections in Workday or your benefit event date, whichever is later.

Benefits will be reflected as “active” once you’ve completed your enrollment in Workday and your enrollment has been processed with the insurance carriers (which can take up to two weeks).

You will typically receive your UnitedHealthcare or Kaiser medical ID and FSA, HSA and commuter cards in the mail within two weeks of enrolling in Workday. Need your medical ID card faster? Register one week after enrolling in Workday and download a temporary ID card.
