What you need to know

You may need time away to take care of yourself or a loved one. Our leave-of-absence programmes have your back.

Maternity leave

Recovering from childbirth? Let us temporarily subtract one item from your priority list: work. If you’re a biological mother, you’re eligible to take up to 26 weeks of paid maternity leave to recover and bond with your new baby.

While on maternity leave, your Splunk benefits will continue during your leave, except for any car or transportation allowances. Your vacation time will continue to accrue during your leave.

Need more info? Refer to the Maternity Leave Policy.

Adoption leave

Welcoming an adopted baby to your family? Adoption leave allows you to take paid time off to bond with your new child who is 3 months old or younger.

You get 12 weeks of paid adoption leave starting on the day after the placement of the child.

  • Adopting multiple children? You’ll get an additional month of leave per additional adopted child.
  • Both parents work at Splunk? You have the option to take your portion of leave simultaneously or consecutively. You must get your leave approved before it begins.

While on adoption leave, your Splunk benefits will continue during your leave, except for any car or transportation allowances. Your vacation time will continue to accrue during your leave.

Paternity leave

Splunk supports you and your family during one of the most important times in your life: the birth of your child. If you’re a biological father, you can take up to two weeks of fully paid paternity leave to bond with your new baby.

While on paternity leave, your Splunk benefits will continue during your leave, including car and transportation allowances. Your vacation time will continue to accrue during your leave.

Military reservist leave

As part of our commitment to Splunkers who serve in the military, we provide paid time off for your military reservist duty.

You get 10 days (80 hours) of paid time off for military reservist leave, including, but not limited to, annual training requirements to maintain readiness for military duty.

Request your military reservist leave through Workday. If your military time off will exceed 10 days, submit a leave request, and attach the applicable training orders or the equivalent.

How to apply for leave

Notify your manager of your need for a leave of absence and the duration, so they can plan for business coverage.

Submit a leave request with any required documentation, which will include your leave start and end dates. While on your leave, be sure to maintain open communication with your manager about your return. When you return to work, confirm your return-to-work date through the Splunk Service Portal so the leave request can be closed.
